The Company

Our client is a prestigious National and International publisher with a range of cutting edge media tools including press, magazines and online. They currently require an Advertising Sales Executive based at their Edinburgh office to work on their Consumer Magazine division. Their products include established award winning, ABC audited, glossy magazines aimed at a high net worth audience in Scotland and further afield. They have a strong distribution via a network of leading supermarkets, newsagents and a strong subscription based readership.

 

The Role

As a Trainee Advertising Sales Executive you will be working on their consumer magazine division on lifestyle magazines and special supplements. You will be responsible for selling online and print advertising to a mix of new customers and existing key accounts across a number of sectors. Sectors could include Food & Drink, Arts & Crafts, Leisure, Travel, Property, Retail, Entertainment and Motors. This is a structured sale where you will identify the business needs then create, design and present innovative advertising solutions tailored to the client to ensure results. This will involve negotiating and presenting bespoke print and digital advertising solutions to key decision makers primarily over the phone and some work face to face. Working to revenue targets and deadlines, you will be responsible for dealing with a range of customers from SME’s to corporate clients on a national basis.

Responsibilities

  • Sourcing Leads
  • Identifying key contacts within companies and gathering data from a number of sources.
  • Cold call telemarketing
  • Fact finding with customer to establish their needs
  • Generation of new business opportunities
  • Achieving the key performance indicators (KPI’s), set targets and deadlines
  • Providing a weekly prospect sheet and weekly reports
  • Handling Customer queries and maintaining a high standard of customer care
  • Keeping internal CRM System up to date
  • Handle all incoming enquiries in an efficient manner and convert to sales
  • Sending emails to prospective customers
  • Liaising and working closely with the Media Sales team

The Candidate

Ideally you will be degree qualified (any discipline) with sales experience from any business to business sales based environment such as office furniture, office supplies, franking machines, IT equipment, IT products, training, telecoms, financial products, digital print services or a background in recruitment consultancy.

You will be looking to pursue a career in the lucrative world of advertising sales.

You will be commercially aware, motivated and naturally enthusiastic with tenacity and ambition and be able to demonstrate that you have a competitive edge. You will be PC literate, creative, articulate, proactive and quick thinking with the ability to develop relationships. You will be have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to negotiate at all levels.
